Is cannabis legal in Australia?

Medicinal cannabis has been legally available in Australia since 2016, after the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) reclassified certain cannabis products.

THC-containing products moved from Schedule 9 (prohibited) to Schedule 8 (controlled medicine), meaning they can be prescribed under strict medical guidelines.

CBD products with less than 2% of other cannabinoids remain in Schedule 4 (prescription-only medicine), which generally involves fewer restrictions.

At Epsilon Clinics, we support eligible patients through every step of their wellness journey – from understanding their options to developing a personalised treatment plan and guiding them through the TGA approval process.

Our priority is safe, legal and evidence-based care aimed at improving quality of life. While recreational cannabis remains illegal in Australia, our focus is on helping patients access medicinal cannabis in a way that is compliant, effective and tailored to their needs.
